While there are certainly more moves that we would have all liked to see them make, the Dallas Cowboys have been relatively active throughout free agency. Dallas took care of a lot of players that were already in their building but they certainly ventured outward as well. The Cowboys signed players like Gerald McCoy and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, not to mention Aldon Smith, and they even brought in Saivion Smith as recently as Friday.
When it comes to free agents people are always eager to see how they will fit in with the Cowboys on the field. This is obviously important but there are other questions that need answers, too. For instance we need to know what jersey numbers these players are going to wear on their new uniform!
This is all subject to change but for now we have something to go off. The Cowboys website (aka the mothership) has numbers listed for six of their new players and most of them make sense.
- 2: Greg Zuerlein
- 27: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
- 28: Maurice Canady
- 80: Blake Bell
- 93: Gerald McCoy
- 95: Dontari Poe
Gerald McCoy landed the number 93 with the Cowboys that he’s worn to this point in his career, and everything else is pretty standard as far as the positions these players play.
You might be questioning Ha Ha Clinton-Dix wearing 27 considering that’s what we have known Jourdan Lewis as since 2017. In case you forgot, Lewis announced this offseason that he will be switching to number 26, the number he wore while at the University of Michigan.
Hopefully all of these numbers get to bathe in Super Bowl confetti down in Tampa Bay soon enough.
