We are hours away from having answers to questions that have lingered for months now. What the Dallas Cowboys do with their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft will say a lot about how they view their current roster and what their plans for the future are. We have all looked at the current state of things and concluded what the needs are for their first-round pick.
Dallas has needs at cornerback, safety, edge rusher, wide receiver, linebacker (maybe?), you get the picture. It makes a lot of sense that they are going to go defense, but where are they going to go specifically?

SB Nation asked Cowboys fans this past week what position they thought was the biggest need on the team. The things that we mentioned above, sans linebacker, were all listed and one (really one group) stood out well above the rest - defensive back.
The Cowboys have a need at both cornerback and safety, especially after letting Byron Jones walk in free agency. Jones spent his time at both spots during his career with the Cowboys, but even if he’d returned the organization would still need help at safety.
Florida's C.J. Henderson (if still on the board), Clemson’s A.J. Terrell, LSU’s Kristian Fulton, and Alabama’s Trevon Diggs are all names that are possible for the Cowboys to target if they want to use their first-round pick on a cornerback specifically. It doesn’t feel like they’ll go safety with the 17th overall selection, but Alabama’s Xavier McKinney and LSU’s Grant Delpit are certainly names to watch.
Say the Cowboys took LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson in the first round and then went with a linebacker in the second. This would mean they went the first two rounds without addressing what everybody views as their biggest need which would be an interesting roll of the dice.
Do you think that is ultimately what ends up happening?
