Here we are, Day 2 of the 2020 NFL draft. The Cowboys sure caught a lucky break when they were able to select WR CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall pick. The grades for the Cowboys pick were certainly noteworthy. And the chance to stick it to a rival is always a bonus.
That’s yesterday, though, and the draft stops for no team. So today, the Cowboys will be picking at #51 and #82 (barring a trade), and there is still plenty of talent left on the board. The Cowboys still have needs on defense so may expect that’s the direction they will go on Day 2.
Still, after Day 1, ride or die #Team40Burger.
This is an open thread for draft chat.
Rumors:
Cowboys officials have discussed putting together a package to move up near the top of tonight's 2nd round _ much like they did six years ago to acquire DeMarcus Lawrence.

But the team likes how the board sets up & appears comfortable staying at No. 51 at the moment.
Defensive names to consider today for the Cowboys in the second and third rounds (in no particular order): DE Yetur Gross-Matos, CB Trevon Diggs, CB Kristian Fulton, S Xavier McKinney, DE Julian Okwara, CB Jaylon Johnson, S Antoine Winfield Jr., DE/LB Zack Baun and S Grant Delpit. Jerry Jones indicated late Thursday the Cowboys have some players with first-round grades still available.
One personnel director calls this “the deepest second round in the last 25 years.” He believes there are 20 players available tonight that could have been first-round picks; there usually are 7-10. “There will be as many starters in this round that there are in the first round.”

Cowboys 2020 draft picks:
Round 1, pick 17 (No. 17 overall) - WR CeeDee Lamb
Round 2, pick 19 (No. 51 overall)
Round 3, pick 18 (No. 82 overall)
Round 4, pick 17 (No. 123 overall)
Round 5, pick 18 (No. 164 overall)
Round 5, pick 33 (No. 179 overall)
Round 7, pick 17 (No. 231 overall)
Cowboys needs:
CB - With the loss of Byron Jones in free agency, and with Chobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis needing new contracts in 2021, the team needs to add some young talent.
EDGE - Robert Quinn took his 11.5 sacks to Chicago leaving a hole on the right side. The Cowboys hope to get Randy Gregory back, and hope that new signee Aldon Smith will also be re-instated, but they can’t count on either/both returning and being ready to play.
Wide receiver - Randall Cobb proved to be a more-than-worthy replacement to Cole Beasley in the slot, but now he’s left for the Texans. The Cowboys have a top-tier 1-2 punch in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, but the cupboard is a little bare after that.
Safety - The signing of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix helped alleviate this problem, but it was only a one-year deal. Xavier Woods is also scheduled for a new deal in 2021. The Cowboys need to add some young talent.
Others: linebacker, tight end, center
