How could the Dallas Cowboys follow up last night’s pick of CeeDee Lamb? The supremely talented wide receiver fell right into the laps of the Cowboys, and Dallas, to the happiness and excitement of many, did not flinch. As a result, Dak Prescott gets to throw the ball to a wide receiver corps that features Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Lamb.
The first round was fun, but championship teams continue to find talent and fill out their roster on days two and three. Dallas entered the second night of the draft with needs at corner, safety, and pass rusher. There was some talk that the Cowboys would trade up in the second round, but they ultimately decided to stay put at 51.
With the 51st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cowboys grabbed a player that had some considerations as a borderline first-round selection: Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Trevon Diggs.
If the first 16 picks played out a certain way, CB Trevon Diggs was a player the #Cowboys were STRONGLY considering in the 1st round at No. 17. And now they get him at No. 51.

Ideal scenario for Dallas.
Wow! What a draft for the #Cowboys! 2nd pick at 51-CB Trevon Diggs. @BobbyBeltTX and I talked to him for “The Boys and Girl”Podcast. Huge #Cowboys fan, was training in Dallas and brother was giving him fits getting him ready this offseason. Really nice pick here

Trevon Diggs scared me @ No. 17

At No. 51, you're drafting a 6'1 CB with good athleticism, 33-inch arms and two years of starting experience in the SEC.
I dig this pick fine for 2020, but I feel WAY better about it for 2021 and beyond. Very solid pick.
Lamb AND Diggs is a helluva haul for the Dallas Cowboys through two selections.
Lot of people thought Dallas would take Diggs at 17.

They had CeeDee Lamb fall into their laps, took him in the first, and end up with Diggs anyway a round later.
That's a result.
The great Gil Brandt says that “Jerry’s boat is sailing smoothly so far.”
Diggs was a player Dallas would have felt good about in Round 1. Cowboys get him in Round 2 + best receiver in the draft. Jerry's boat is sailing smoothly so far. https://t.co/6KDyZirvNR

Adding a talent like Diggs is such a steal for the Cowboys. Many suggest that he may have been the pick at 17.
Trevon Diggs would’ve been my CB1 last year.
— Jonah Tuls (@JonahTulsNFL) April 25, 2020
He could’ve been the Cowboys’ pick at 17 if Lamb was gone.
Now he’s the pick at 51. Home run. Might have the most upside of any CB in this class not named Jeff Okudah. https://t.co/LtGmNNCEHH
This graphic is beautiful to look at.
Impressive start to this year’s draft for the Cowboys. Many experts had Trevon Diggs going in the first round pic.twitter.com/qUg1RCJzo7
