2020 NFL Draft: Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock has the Cowboys adding to their edge rushers

Is this a good choice for the Cowboys at #17 overall?

There are a number of ways that the Dallas Cowboys can go with the 17th overall pick. Many people want to see a cornerback, safety, wide receiver, or edge rusher. The thing about the 17th overall pick is that it’s just one pick. Wherever the Cowboys ultimately go defines a lot about where they didn’t go, things can sometimes get existential like that.

We are only a couple of weeks away from the draft beginning and there is more information available to insiders than ever before. When it comes to mock drafts there are some worth paying more attention to than others, and one of those certainly includes NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

Daniel Jeremiah has the Cowboys drafting K’Lavon Chaisson

If the Cowboys do ultimately want to address the pass rush then LSU’s K’Lavon Chaisson would be a great place to do so. Putting him in a group that already features DeMarcus Lawrence, not to mention potential in Randy Gregory and Aldon Smith, could be a lot of fun. Daniel Jeremiah sees it happening.

School: LSU | Year: Sophomore (RS)

Chaisson would be an ideal fit on the opposite side of Demarcus Lawrence. He is still a little raw, but he’s very explosive.

Hearing that an edge rusher that the Cowboys could draft “is still a little raw” likely has fans thinking of Taco Charlton in 2017, but that is hardly the case with Chaisson. He is an athletic marvel.

The Cowboys announced an interview that they conducted with Wisconsin LB/EDGE Zack Baun on Tuesday, so it seems like they are doing their due diligence on potential pass rushers. Deciding between the two is an interesting exercise that has people on both sides of the fence.

For what it’s worth Daniel Jeremiah has explored a number of options when it comes to the Cowboys and their 17th overall pick. He has now sent three different players from three very different positions to Dallas:

  • Alabama S Xavier McKinney
  • Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb
  • LSU EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson

What would you think of Chaisson at 17 overall?
