2020 Dallas Cowboys most-likely win total odds don’t really favor a playoff spot

Could these projections really be accurate?

Many people around the NFL have spent the time since the NFL Draft throwing tons of compliments toward the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas hauled in an impressive draft class, and even their recent signing of quarterback Andy Dalton was given plenty of props (it also led to some spirited debates). The 2020 Dallas Cowboys figure to be a team that will compete, and if they don’t, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

Of course the term “compete” is subjective, but we all want to see the Cowboys win the Super Bowl. For that to happen they will need to win a playoff game which will mean that they need to stack together a bunch of wins.

One oddsmaker has the Cowboys finishing with 5-9 wins as most likely option

Our friends over at BetOnline always come up with interesting lines when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys. Recently, they put out odds regarding win totals for the 2020 Dallas Cowboys and the leading odds has the team finishing with five to nine wins at season’s end.

It is important to note that however the Dallas Cowboys do this season, that there is an extra playoff spot up for grabs. So while nine wins may not have been enough in season’s past, it is possible that it is enough for someone in 2020 and beyond.

For what it’s worth, the odds for the top two results are very similar. 5/6 odds works out to (54.5%) and 11/10 works out to (47.6%) so they aren’t extremely far apart. If you told someone that the over/under for Cowboys wins in 2020 was 9.5 you would likely make someone think. They’re that close.

Considering that the Cowboys have to play games against teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers, things are obviously going to be very difficult for them. Of course, they do have four easier games in the division outside of Philadelphia, but as it is football, anything can happen.
