A few weeks ago we talked about how Game Pass users were going to be treated to some Film Session breakdowns involving Amari Cooper and Jaylon Smith. Cooper’s time has arrived.
Amari Cooper is one of the more proficient route runners in the National Football League. Getting an understanding on what his objectives are in general is an extremely fascinating thing, hearing it from Cooper himself is a whole different level of interesting.
You can watch this episode of Film Session on Saturday night on NFL Network at 8 PM ET, or you can watch it right here. The choice is yours.
There is a lot of focus on the games that Cooper had against the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Green Bay Packers last season. He goes in depth discussing how clearly nervous then-rookie Deandre Baker was when the Cowboys hosted the New York Giants last season. Cooper also dishes on how he had success against Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander.
He also tells Kurt Warner and Brian Baldinger about how he enjoys playing all over the field so as to throw as many looks as he can on cornerbacks that are shadowing him. Much of his success against Xavien Howard is shown and Cooper even notes that one route he ran against him wasn’t in the Cowboys playbook when he got to Dallas.
Cooper gives a lot of credit to Darius Slay and the game that he had against him when the Cowboys visited the Detroit Lions last week which is certainly proof of why the Philadelphia Eagles traded for Slay this offseason. That matchup is going to be a fun one to watch for the foreseeable future, thankfully the Cowboys have some other potent weapons in Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb.
