The good and the bad of Dak Prescott, and weighing up the alternatives.

Dak Prescott’s contract is the gift that keeps on... not giving? It’s a point of contention inside the organization and outside the organization. There are plenty of opinions to go around and a never-ending array of analysis to prove one’s point.

Just the other day we indulged in a Bill Barnwell breakdown of statistics to see where Prescott ranks in the NFL QB lineup, and whether the Cowboys should give in and pay him what he’s asking. Today, we go to the video courtesy of our friend Samuel Gold. You might remember him from his recent breakdown of CeeDee Lamb that we featured on the site. He’s back with a look at Dak Prescott, and you can check out more of his videos on his YouTube channel.

Below is the Prescott video, and here’s what he had to say to preface it.

In my latest video breakdown, I wanted to take a deep dive into Dak Prescott’s 2019 season to see how he performed and answer the big question facing the Dallas Cowboys: Is Dak worth the $35 million per year contract that he’ll likely get when he re-signs this offseason. After reviewing over 300 plays to make this video, my answer is YES. While Dak hasn’t put together a Patrick Mahomes-esque season, this is the going rate for a franchise quarterback in the NFL. At worst, Dak is a Top 12 quarterback and likely ranked 9 or 10 overall. You can win with that type of consistency even if you do have to surround him with talent. I think re-signing Dak is the smart decision by the Cowboys even if he is very expensive.
