The Cowboys continued its impressive offseason on Wednesday by adding Everson Griffen on a one-year, $6 million contract. Looking at some of the players the front office has added this offseason is impressive:
- Gerald McCoy
- Dontari Poe
- CeeDee Lamb
- Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
- Greg Zuerlein
- Trevon Diggs
- Aldon Smith
Griffen immediately gives the Cowboys a formidable presence opposite of DeMarcus Lawrence. Losing Robert Quinn to Chicago in free agency left a question mark regarding the Cowboys getting after the quarterback, but Griffen more than makes up for that.
Twitter exploded when it was announced that Griffen, who was among the best free agents still available, was heading to play for the Cowboys. Therefore, we have compiled some of the best tweets from Wednesday evening to get you excited for the addition of the four-time Pro Bowler.
Cowboys are getting a heck of a player in Everson Griffen. There are few edge rushers who are more detailed with their approach and an ultimate leader. pic.twitter.com/vEmlYwAViJ

Edge rusher Everson Griffen is a 4-time Pro Bowler who has had three double-digit sack seasons since 2014. He had 8 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and 24 QB hits last year for the Vikings.pic.twitter.com/KqdJFfCLuZ

The #Seahawks and #Vikings went back and forth for pass-rusher Everson Griffen, while the #Cowboys quietly went to work. Out of nowhere, they add a key cog in their defense. Griffen to Dallas.

Everson Griffen lined up as a right DE for 91% of snaps in the last 2 seasons, had all 13.5 sacks from that spot.

DeMarcus Lawrence lined up as a left DE for 91% of snaps in the last 2 seasons, had all 15.5 sacks from that spot.
That seems like a good pairing.
Letting Robert Quinn walk for that $ and signing Everson Griffen this late (comp pick formula!) is good front officing

Everson Griffen is the fifth (!!!) former Pro Bowler the Cowboys have added to their defense, along with McCoy, Poe, Smith & Clinton-Dix.

I'm not trying to tell you that they are all Pro Bowl caliber in 2020. But it's a heck of a departure from the old way of doing things.
Now that’s dangerous, and exactly how you free up 54 & 55. https://t.co/wCEoDVKQhg

Last time that Everson Griffen played his first season with an NFL team (2010):

- The Cowboys drafted a rookie wide receiver in the first round
- They gave him number 88
- Mike McCarthy's team won the Super Bowl
All of those are happening again in 2020
