Hopefully all is well.

Monday marked a significant day for the Dallas Cowboys as they began their first day with an actual padded practice. This is always a momentous occasion for NFL teams throughout training camp.

Putting pads on is indeed a significant step in the training camp process. Unfortunately it was reported before lunch on Monday that one notable defensive lineman went down with a leg injury.

Gerald McCoy reportedly went down in practice with a leg injury

The last question that Mike McCarthy was asked during his Monday press conference was actually about Gerald McCoy. He noted that McCoy is a perennial Pro Bowler and that he has looked to be in tremendous shape thus far. Unfortunately shortly after NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that McCoy went down with a leg injury during practice.

Rapoport notes that the severity of the injury is unclear. Monday also marked less than four weeks to the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams so while there is still time between now and then, it is not a lot.

We will see what is ultimately the case when it comes to McCoy’s leg injury. We are all hoping the best for him and that he is alright.

Update: 10:50am ET

As soon as Cowboys practice ended and reports were allowed to be made the Dallas Morning News reported that McCoy was clutching his right knee and visibly frustrated.

Hoping for the best.

Update: 11:10am ET

More context on what happened.

Fingers crossed.
