With the Earl Thomas story swirling around the team, the Cowboys players got back on the field to further their preparations for the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 13th. Let’s get a quick recap of the action.
An overview of today’s events.
Day 9 Practice Notes:
— Kyle Youmans (@Kyle_Youmans) August 25, 2020
-Lots of live-action like anticipated
-LVE got his first true hit since injury (FLATTENED Pollard)
-CeeDee with another 3 TD grabs
-Best day throwing for Dak
-Interior OL is looking really good. Looney had a good practice
-OTs did a nice job in run blockin
That man CeeDee Lamb continues to prove that he is going to be a weapon. Multiple TD catches again today, including this one.
The play of the day in today’s Cowboys practice: Dak Prescott hitting CeeDee Lamb for a leaping grab in the back left corner of the end zone on a well-defended play by Daryl Worley. Ref called Lamb out but we’re gonna need to see a replay. Looked like he got both feet down

Dak Prescott had an impressive day as mentioned in a tweet above. A little more detail.
Dak Prescott completed this unbelievable sideline pass to Michael Gallup for about 40 plus yards. It was one of the best passes I’ve seen Prescott throw in my last three years on the beat.

You want Dak using his tight ends downfield? You got it.
it’s very obvious Dak loves attacking downfield with his tight ends. I saw him go downfield 4 times to 3 different TEs. one of which was an absolute rope to Blake Jarwin, splitting the safeties in the process

A stat breakdown for each QB.
QB Throwing today (give or take a couple throws, but overall it’s accurate):
— Kyle Youmans (@Kyle_Youmans) August 25, 2020
Dak: 15-23
Dalton: 15-20
DiNucci: 3-4
No one threw an interception today.
Rookie corner Trevon Diggs is getting better with each practice, something you like to see in young players.
Trevon Diggs is hitting his stride in this 2nd week of camp.

The rookie was batting down everything today. Had a PBU on Michael Gallup and broke up a would-be TD to Noah Brown. He made a great play to poke a ball away from Cole Hikutini, but he got there just too soon for a flag
I would say this was Trevon Diggs best practice, he was around the ball a lot today.

The Earl Thomas situation has put a spotlight on safety, but one player already on the Cowboys roster is making waves at the spot.
Safety quickly has emerged as the most interesting position on the Cowboys’ roster. Daryl Worley is taking reps there as well we his usual work at cornerback, and he’s not the only one cross-training.
— Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) August 25, 2020
We already new Chidobe Awuzie is getting some looks at safety, but you can add draft pick Reggie Robinson to the mix.
Cowboys are tapping into the versatility of fourth-round pick Reggie Robinson, working him some at safety. He was in coverage on two-point conversion pass that TE Charlie Taumoepeau couldn’t convert.
— Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) August 25, 2020
Reggie Robinson jumped out at me for the first time today. I'm not sure how he wound up covering Sewo Olonilua, but he trailed the big RB toward the back of the end zone, closed on him and broke up a would-be TD.

Special teams is looking better so far with Greg Zuerlein as the kicker.
Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein is now 18 for 18 on his field goal attempts in training camp. All have been indoors. He hit today from 33, 37, 40, 42, 44, 46

Some injury updates.
Connor Williams did not practice today. Jourdan Lewis (ankle) suited up but didn’t practice.
— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) August 25, 2020
Williams was likely given the day off as he continues to recover from his injury last year.
Luke Gifford left practice after smashing into Tony Pollard on a run near the goal line.
— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) August 25, 2020
Cameron Erving wore pads today but worked on the side and didn't practice.
— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) August 25, 2020
My fault on something, Chidobe Awuzie did suit up today but didn't practice.
