With camp kicking into high-gear, it’s easy to get lost in the hype of the Cowboys first two draft picks; CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs.
They are for sure living up to the hype, but don’t forget about Cowboys fifth-round pick Bradlee Anae when talking about players who are having good camps.
it starts with the pass rush. this was as miserable as Dak has been in the pocket in a week or so. I charted sacks by Everson Griffen, Bradlee Anae Tank & LVE (blitz) as well as a couple from inside pressure.

and what happens in these situations? bad throws
Anae, a 2020 fifth-round pick, is definitely playing up to the hype that many had on him ahead of the draft. Looked at as a top 100 football player coming into the draft, but maybe not a top 100 athlete, Anae fell to the end of the fifth round, where the Cowboys landed one of the biggest steals of the draft.
By the sounds of it, Anae is performing just like a top 100 player in camp. He is not going to “wow” you with his athleticism, speed, length, or flexibility, but he can win consistently using refined technique, great effort, and above average explosiveness. Anae fits in perfect with the Cowboys defensive line, where veteran players such as DeMarcus Lawrence, Everson Griffen, and Tyrone Crawford will be able to take Anae under their wing. Having one of the best defensive line coaches in the NFL in Jim Tomsula is certainly not a bad thing either for the rookie.
Good day getting after the passer for Cowboys edge rushers Aldon Smith, Everson Griffen, DeMarcus Lawrence and Bradlee Anae

While we’re still waiting on some of the other rookies to make their mark in camp, it seems as if Anae has found his footing, and started to really take off - along with former teammate Francis Bernard. If Anae can continue to develop, he could be an awesome value selection for the Cowboys, that should stick around for the foreseeable future.
