The Dallas Cowboys will be playing their first home game of the 2020 season soon, and the first team to serve as the visitors will be the Atlanta Falcons. The bad news is that the Cowboys will officially be taking on the Falcons without one of their best players, left tackle Tyron Smith. Last time that Dallas faced Atlanta without him was not a great day for Dak Prescott, you obviously know what happened on November 12th, 2017.
Smith’s status has been up in the air all week long but it became official on Sunday morning. He is inactive and the team will have to find a way to get it done without him.
Dallas Cowboys inactives
- T Tyron Smith
- S Reggie Robinson
- QB Ben DiNucci
- T Alex Light
- LB Rashad Smith
Atlanta Falcons inactives
- CB Kendall Sheffield
- RB Qadree Ollison
- T John Wetzel
- DT Marlon Davidson
- DE Charles Harris
It is by no means a good thing that Smith is out for this game, but the opportunity that it presents for the coaching staff is one that is certainly going to be interesting to watch. We have talked here at BTB before about how the Chaz Green situation was a microcosm of the Jason Garrett experience as a whole, we are going to get to see how Mike McCarthy can handle a situation like this during his first game on the home sidelines at AT&T Stadium.
Dak Prescott is now without his two tackles against a pass rush that made life difficult for Russell Wilson last week. The stage is as hot as it could ever be for a quarterback in a contract year.
It’s time for him to go to work.
