The regular season is here and we are all very excited to see what the Dallas Cowboys are going to do. Hype is as high as it’s been in a long time, but recent injury bugs have caused people to pump the brakes ever so slightly.

Dallas has already placed La’el Collins, Sean Lee, and Ventell Bryant on injured reserve, but chose not to do so with a couple of other players. Stephen Jones spoke on 105.3 The Fan on Monday and noted that Jourdan Lewis and Luke Gifford would both be game-time decisions this week against the Los Angeles Rams. He also mentioned Xavier Woods as being a question mark of sorts.

Woods didn’t finish the Cowboys Night practice that the team held two Sundays ago. He hasn’t been heard from much since which has caused people to wonder as to his status beginning Week 1.

Jerry Jones expects Xavier Woods to play on Sunday night against the Rams

When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, what Jerry Jones has to say obviously matters a whole lot. The team owner, president, and general manager made one of his weekly appearances himself Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan and he noted that he expects Xavier Woods to play.

“Yes I do. Yes. Everything’s on go. It would be really a surprise if he didn’t get out there Sunday night. I think he got a good checkup yesterday and should be moving around out there this week, in a good way.”

This is obviously great news for the Cowboys as the secondary is the biggest point of weakness on their roster. The way that Stephen Jones spoke made it sound like Jourdan Lewis won’t be expected to play so they’ll already be down at cornerback, operating at less than full capacity at safety as well would not be a great way to get the season started against a head coach known for his offensive abilities in Sean McVay.

The week is still young which means we will get full injury reports as it goes along. Jerry expects Woods to play though, so you can just about write that in stone.
