There is no shortage of stories when it comes to the history of the Dallas Cowboys, and such is the case specifically for the team that patrolled the 1990s on their way to becoming a dynasty.
Documentaries have been put together and books have been written on the accomplishments of these teams on the field, and their lives off of it. I don’t have to tell you that the 1990s Dallas Cowboys are synonymous with a lot of things.
One story that has had a few versions of it told over time has to do with Michael Irvin, Everett McIver, and a pair of scissors. The scene was training camp in 1998 and hair cuts were being administered. Things reportedly escalated and, well, you have likely heard the story.
Irvin was a guest on the latest episode of the 10 Questions podcast with Kyle Brandt and told the story in its entirety from his perspective. You can watch his full answer below (jump to 46:30).
This is a story that hasn’t been visited all too often when it comes to Cowboys lore, and it certainly isn’t one that Michael Irvin has told in many moments behind a microphone. He shares the story and adds the context that he was facing legal issues at the time independent of the event that took place. Again, it is some of the most in-detail that this story has ever been.
Irvin also notes that he and the person involved (he does not name McIver by name) went on to become friends and talks about how he prays for him and as host Kyle Brandt says, that is a part of the story that a lot of people don’t seem to know.
