After three consecutive home games the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) will now hit the road to take on the New England Patriots (2-3) on their home turf. The Cowboys are riding a four-game win streak and hope to keep that streak alive heading into their bye week in Week 7. In order to do that, they will first have to take care of business against the Patriots.
The Dallas Cowboys may be heavy favorites this week, but they certainly can’t take the New England Patriots, or any other team for that matter, lightly. Their biggest obstacle this week isn’t player versus player matchups they need to win. No, this is a matchup that could be decided by whether or not Kellen Moore is able to get the better of Bill Belichick, or vice versa.
You can’t ever underestimate the impact Bill Belichick can have on the outcome of the game. The defensive mastermind has proven that time and time again, like in 2019 when he all but shut down the Cowboys No. 1 offense the last time these two teams played. But, that was then and this is now.
The Cowboys may not be the No. 1 offense in the league like they were in 2019, but they are one of the more well-balanced, red-hot offensive units right now. They’ve proven they can be equally effective going with a ground-and-pound game plan or airing it out in the passing game. This is a pick your poison offense that should be extremely difficult to stop.

Kellen Moore’s offensive ingenuity through the first five weeks of the 2021 season has been simply amazing this year. He, of course, benefits from having a plethora of offensive weapons at his disposal, but there’s no denying his game plan and play-calling has been on point. That makes Bill Belichick’s job a lot more difficult.
As things stand right now, the Dallas Cowboys are averaging 34 points per game, second only behind the Buffalo Bills (34.4). On the flipside, the New England Patriots are only giving up 18.4 points per game defensively. Something is going to have to give, which is why the chess match between Kellen Moore and Bill Belichick is the matchup to watch this week.
Bill Belichick has ruled the roost in the henhouse for years now, but Kellen Moore is the new rooster strutting his stuff ready to challenge for the top spot in the pecking order. Both coaches definitely have their work cut out for them, but whoever is able to get the best of the other will likely determine the outcome of this game.
With the proven QB, the multitude of offensive weapons, and the momentum that comes with a four-game win streak, this is a matchup that likely favors Kellen Moore. Bill Belichick does have the advantage of playing at home and a crowd that will be amped up facing a red-hot Cowboys team, but it probably won’t be enough. But, no one really knows how things will turn out in the end.
