We are just about at the middle of March which means that free agency is right around the corner. Hovering just behind that though is the 2021 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys had what many regarded as one of the NFL’s better draft classes last year and the pressure will certainly be there for America’s Team to top it.
At season’s end the Cowboys held six selections in the upcoming draft (remember that their 2020 fifth-rounder was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles during last year’s draft when they traded up to select Tyler Biadasz). You are an educated football fan so you knew things would be changing from that and the time for change is now.
On Wednesday the NFL announced the 2021 compensatory picks. One projection this offseason had the Cowboys earning comp picks in round three through six, well the final number is out and the Dallas Cowboys did net four, the most of any team.
2021 Dallas Cowboys Draft Picks
- 1st: 10th overall
- 2nd: 44th overall
- 3rd: 75th overall
- 3rd: 99th overall (compensatory pick)

- 5th: 179th overall (compensatory pick)

No team received more compensatory picks than the Cowboys: a 3rd, 4th, 5th and a 6th.

The Patriots received the highest compensatory pick at 96th overall.
A reminder: compensatory picks are eligible to be traded.
Will McClay will clearly have a big arsenal to work with come draft time. He will officially now have a few extra picks to work with thanks to the way things unfolded over the course of the last year.
It’s time to go to work.
