The Dallas Cowboys need help at safety. Donovan Wilson looks like he will be given the chance to be the Cowboys box safety, but the centerfield safety is still an open spot on the defense. Xavier Woods manned the position last year but is a free agent and still unsigned.
It has been speculated that new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn might turn to some of his former players on defense, and early on the name Damontae Kazee was a strong rumor. It looks like that rumor is getting some substance behind it as Kazee is expected to visit the Cowboys next week.
Free agent FS Damontae Kazee is expected to visit Cowboys next week, source said. He’s coming off an Oct. 5 Achilles tear but tied for NFL lead with 10 combined interceptions in 2018-2019. DC Dan Quinn, secondary coach Joe Whitt Jr. know him well from time in Atlanta. pic.twitter.com/g0ZEdSogYU

Not only is Dan Quinn familiar with Kazee, but new secondary coach Joe Whitt Jr. also coached with the Falcons last year and knows Kazee’s skill-set. The Cowboys will likely be working a lot from Cover 1/Cover 3 sets under Quinn, and Kazee is intimately familiar with that scheme.
If Kazee checks out medically, which is probably the reason for the in-person visit, it seems like a strong possibility that he will be a Cowboys player soon.
