Poll: If you could only have one of the connected free agents to the Cowboys, who would you pick?

You must choose.

The first week of free agency is officially in the rearview mirror and the Dallas Cowboys don’t exactly have a whole lot to show for their work in terms of outside additions.

It should be said that the front office did a lot of work and seemingly put a lot of effort (insert jokes here) towards returning different players by way of tenders and outright new deals, but it is undeniable that more help is needed.

While the Cowboys have brought in five players that were elsewhere last season, only three of them play on the defensive side of the ball. What’s more is that while they are three defenders, they are all part of the front of the defense which means that zero help has been given to the back.

It is commendable that the Cowboys are bringing in interior linemen like Carlos Watkins and Brent Urban (again, insert jokes here), but this secondary needs a lot of help and that was true even before Chidobe Awuzie left for the Cincinnati Bengals.

While the organization is still not on the board in terms of bringing in outside talent for their secondary they have been linked to three different names so far:

  • Damontae Kazee (scheduled for a visit next week)
  • Keanu Neal (reportedly choosing between the Cowboys and Jets)
  • Malik Hooker (scheduled for a visit next week)

Two of these names were extremely obvious in terms of being possible additions by the Cowboys as both Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal played for Dan Quinn’s Atlanta Falcons. Sometimes things really are that predictable.

An interesting twist to that idea though is that Keanu Neal is reportedly choosing whether to play WLB for the Cowboys or Jets which would move him in front of the secondary. This of course leaves Kazee and Hooker as the only two true options for the secondary and our own David Howman did a great job of assessing the merits of each.

This is the Cowboys that we are talking about, though. As you are likely well aware this past week has been filled with frustration by many a fan that they are not signing or being linked to [insert whatever free agent you like here]. They are notoriously tight spenders in this part of the team-building process so it stands to reason that they might only come away with one of the three.

That being said, if you could only have one, who do you choose?
