We are now onto the second week of free agency and the Dallas Cowboys have started to ramp things up a little bit. The weekend brought word that Dallas locked down safety/linebacker Keanu Neal to a one-year deal worth $5M. Time will tell whether or not the Cowboys bring in another player or two, the secondary could still use some help, but they have other matters to tend to as well.
Part of the offseason obviously includes signing players, but it literally includes signing players. On Monday the Cowboys announced five of their signings as official, meaning that pen has met paper and all is now squared away.
The @dallascowboys signed the following unrestricted free agents on Monday:
— Dallas Cowboys Public Relations (@DallasCowboysPR) March 22, 2021
- LB Tarell Basham (Ohio)
- LS Jake McQuaide (Ohio State)
- T Ty Nsekhe (Texas State)
- DT Brent Urban (Virginia)
- DE Carlos Watkins (Clemson)
This is all a formality that obviously has to take place, but it is nice to see that it is done nonetheless. It seems like it was a particularly joyous occasion for Arlington native Ty Nsekhe.
The Cowboys will hopefully still have a number of signings to formally take care of before free agency is all said and done. As noted, their secondary could use a couple of more bodies and thankfully there are still plenty available.
Congratulations to all of the newest members of the Dallas Cowboys.
