Wednesday was a busy day for the Dallas Cowboys, one full of a lot of visits. It had previously been reported that Dallas would host Damontae Kazee, Malik Hooker, and Jayron Kearse on free agent visits. While arguments can be made as to which anybody prefers, at about five o’clock this afternoon it was reported that nothing was “imminent” for any of the three.
At some point that idea changed. As the evening was unfolding reports started to circulate that the Cowboys had indeed landed a safety. Say hello to Jayron Kearse.
Cowboys are signing S Jayron Kearse to a one-year contract following his visit today, source said.

Kearse spent this past season with the Detroit Lions but prior to that had played his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings. He obviously knows George Edwards from their time together in Minnesota. Kearse adds a legitimate point of depth at a position where the Cowboys have needed help for years now and has some special teams flexibility.
It should be noted that it was also reported that just because the Cowboys have agreed to terms with Kearse, that they are not out of the running for either Damontae Kazee or Malik Hooker. In fact, it is being reported that Dallas is actively in negotiations with Kazee.
Cowboys have engaged in contract negotiations with ex-Falcons S Damontae Kazee following his visit and physical today, source said. A clear sign they believe he’s on right track from Week 4 Achilles tear. But no agreement as of yet. So Kazee’s plan remains to visit Lions.
