[Ed. Note] Greetings BTB. Today we want to welcome another new addition to the writing staff. We grabbed a tested veteran in the Cowboys coverage game, Brian Martin, formerly of Inside the Star. Let’s get to know him and welcome him aboard. — Dave

Hello everyone! First off, I can’t tell you how excited I am for the new journey we are about to embark on. There is a renewed energy surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and I can’t wait for what the 2021 season has in store. I’m expecting big things from America’s Team this year and I hope you are as well.

As a born and bred Texan, I doubt there was a time in my life when I wasn’t a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. My fandom really took root at an early age when the Cowboys were one of the most dominant teams in the league in the early 90s. I was hooked and continued to be so through all the ups and downs throughout the years.

From emulating Troy Aikman throwing a touchdown pass to high-stepping like Prime Time, my slight obsession with the boys in blue carried over from the backyard to the field when I was old enough to start playing organized sports. The Cowboys became part of my identity and remain so to this day.

My football background probably isn’t too dissimilar than many of yours. I started playing the sport at the Pee-wee/Pop Warner level and continued through high school. I had a chance to play at the collegiate level as well, but not long after graduation I was in an unfortunate diving accident that left me as a C2/C3 quadriplegic.

As you can imagine this was a life altering event. To go from athlete to spectator in the blink of an eye was a difficult transition, but one that led me to my passion for writing. This outlet has brought such a joy to my life I can’t even properly put it into words. It’s not the same kind of high I received from actually participating, but one that’s close to it.

Let’s see… What else should you know about me?

I am a college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Health Sciences with a concentration in Sports Management. I have a large, close-knit family who are also big Dallas Cowboys fans. And, I have a German Shorthaired Pointer named Rowdy after the Cowboys mascot.

I think that pretty much covers anything you might want to know about me, but if you have any more questions feel free to hit me up on Twitter @BrianMartinNFL. My DM’s are open and I welcome any discussions regarding the Dallas Cowboys or other. So, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Enough about me though. Let’s get back to the important stuff… the Dallas Cowboys. After all, that’s what we’re all here for.
