The Dallas Cowboys were set to pick at number 10 in the NFL draft, but with both cornerbacks they were looking at off the board, they decided to trade back. The Cowboys were thought to be eyeing Patrick Surtain II or Jaycee Horn, but both players were taken ahead of the Cowboys pick.
Instead, Dallas traded back to 12th, getting the Philadelphia Eagles pick in the first round, plus other compensation. The Cowboys could have chosen offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, but instead wanted to pick up extra draft ammunition.

The Cowboys pick up the Eagles third-round pick in the trade. That pick is number 84 overall. It’s an interesting trade between division rivals, and gives the Cowboys another pick in the Top 100 of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Cowboys are going to have plenty of opportunity to upgrade their roster with a number of premium picks. With the 10th pick, the Eagles took DeVonta Smith.
