Recap of Cowboys training camp practice #1 in Oxnard (tweets + videos)

The Cowboys finally hit the field.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys-Training Camp Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

It has begun. The Dallas Cowboys conducted their first 2021 training camp practice in Oxnard today. There was a flood of tweets from the media as practice went on, and here is a rundown.

On the injury front, there was not so good news and very good news.

And then the angels sang.

Oh, did the field just tilt a little, coach?

They say coverage skills are important for today’s linebackers.

We’ve all heard about how in shape Ezekiel Elliott looks. But he is not alone.

Time for team stuff.

Uh, what do you call this drill?

The battle for QB2 begins.

Love this so much.

HBO in the house.

I love to see who’s right in front of the DC here.

Happy birthday!

Big sophomore season coming!

But, um, ouch.

Cords are a good sign.

Mmmhmm.

Say more things like this.

214 baby.

Rookie working.

So good to see.

Mmmhmm again.

Not good news for a guy already on the bubble.

Lots moar, please.

I’m a big fan of this.

CB1 showing out.

Lots of big, fit looking players.

Very positive sign for the rookie who missed so much of the OTAs.

He’s not the only rookie getting in the action. Now just hang onto the ball.

Randy szn coming.

More DE stuff.

Be still, my heart.

This is great stuff.

Might not want to sleep on Carlos Watkins.

How long will this last, I wonder?

It’s really happening.

I’m telling you, this defense is going to be better.

And the offense will be on fire.

Some down roster guys also having a good day.

Overall, looks like Mike McCarthy has the team hit the ground running.

That’s about it. Lots of stuff, mostly good, to process. We want to be cautious about reading too much into the first practice of the year, but it is hard not to feel really good so far.

We discussed all of the action that we saw on Thursday in the latest video on the Blogging The Boys YouTube Channel. Subscribe to our channel (which you can do right here) so you don’t miss any of the videos that we put out!
