Dallas Cowboys 2021 training camp: Nahshon Wright is turning heads early on

The Cowboys rookie is standing out which is great to see.

The Dallas Cowboys held a football practice on Thursday and that in and of itself is a sentence worth saying out loud 500 times. We are only just the one practice in at this point and therefore should not overreact, either positively or negatively, to anything happening out in Oxnard. Still, though, it is difficult to contain some excitement given that this is a football team that has a lot of potential on paper.

One of the things that was most delightful to see on Day 1 was the continued play of third-round rookie cornerback Nahshon Wright. In the initial moments after the Cowboys drafted Wright many poked at the selection saying things like they had never heard of him. He impressed during minicamp and kept up that trend on Thursday.

Part of what the Cowboys seemingly liked about Wright was his physical size. That was on display during the team’s first practice as he managed to get up on this nice pass deflection.

Length is an ideal trait in a defender if it can be utilized properly. It was great to see Wright using it to his advantage in different spots and to see him jumping on balls in an aggressive way.

Ultimately Wright has only just completed the first training camp practice of his NFL career so making too much out of that would be irresponsible. However, there is a lot to like about the fact that it happened in general, but specifically that it happened in the aftermath of a great minicamp from the rookie.

Time will tell if Wright truly does prove the Cowboys overwhelmingly right, but as of right now he is on the right path towards doing so.

We discussed what Wright and the rest of the Cowboys did during Thursday’s practice in the latest video on the Blogging The Boys YouTube Channel. Subscribe to our channel (which you can do right here) so you don’t miss any of the videos that we put out!
