The Dallas Cowboys are back at their home at The Star in Frisco, and back to training camp practices there.

Although Mike McCarthy said in his press conference before the practice that they would continue to be cautious with Dak Prescott and his only chance for preseason game action would be this week’s game against the Houston Texans, it still didn’t keep the fans attending from getting pumped up about their quarterback.
#Cowboys QB Dak Prescott runs out of tunnel and fans erupt here at the Blue & White scrimmage game. They won’t see him in team drills or 7 on 7 today. Just QB drills and more of the same from training camp. Just being cautious still the reasoning bcinjury requires that early on
— Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) August 16, 2021
Mike McCarthy: “There’s no urgency from my perspective to see Dak play (Saturday). This is more about not creating a setback possibility. His volume of throwing leading up to that point, he’s probably in midseason form just from the amount of work he put in over the summer.”

This is good.
Cowboys WR Amari Cooper and DE DeMarcus Lawrence are in pads for first time since Jan. 3 season finale vs. Giants. pic.twitter.com/slPTXVRq0q

Another name of interest!
I spy Amari Cooper & Malik Hooker padded up and participating in the early portion of this practice.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 16, 2021
This, however, is not so great. But good to see Randy and Dalton out there.
Injured Cowboys players not practicing today include DT Neville Gallimore, TE Sean McKeon, OT Josh Ball, CB Reggie Robinson, CB C.J. Goodwin, LB Francis Bernard, WR Malik Turner and LB Anthony Hines. Notable participants: TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) and DE Randy Gregory (foot).

No fun!
With team back in Frisco, no practice video is permitted in accordance to Cowboys media policy. So those CeeDee Lamb videos have been replaced with still photos, shot from upward of 70 yards away. pic.twitter.com/yc3s6uDCGy

Working his way back.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott throwing routes in individual drills right now. Has targeted teammates including Zeke and Blake Jarwin. Threw from 25 yards out pic.twitter.com/rFM0kQIq34

There’s that man again.
Micah Parsons just sacked Garrett Gilbert twice during tonight’s Mojo Moment lol.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 16, 2021
Parsons came around the right side and tapped Gilbert, who pushed up into the pocket.
Gilbert then extended the play to his left, & Parsons circled around & caught him from behind.
Ummmm...
First Mojo Moment of the night: Garrett Gilbert ran with the first-team for a last-second play from the 25-yard line. He would’ve been sacked (three times), but defense isn’t hitting QBs. Toss into the end zone was picked off by Donovan Wilson

True fact about the practice in Oxnard. (I made it inside.)
This is how much fans missed football. We are talking practice. They turned fans away I was told at one practice in Oxnard because too many #Cowboysfans showed up pic.twitter.com/L2Y0CK9p5Z

That’s Dorance Armstrong against Tyron Smith.
92 got around 77
— Killin' Moore (@McCoolBCB) August 16, 2021
Hooker!
Malik Hooker with the pick off a deflection on a Ben DiNucci throw. This is Hooker's first full practice of camp. Nahshon Wright might've had the PBU that led to the takeaway.
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) August 16, 2021
This is true.
Bruh this Zeke run … he’s looking scary
— ✭J Tuck✭ (@jtuck151) August 17, 2021
There he is again!
Parsons pbu woo hoo
— Jeff Cavanaugh (@JC1053) August 17, 2021
Micah Parson’s closing speed looked impressive from ground level in Oxnard… sitting up high in Frisco it’s jaw-dropping. That dude can fly. #CowboysCamp
— Kyle Youmans (@Kyle_Youmans) August 17, 2021
Defense seems to have the upper hand. In Dak’s absence it must be noted.
Amari Cooper is doing some team stuff btw.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 17, 2021
But my main impression so far tonight is that the DL is roughing the offense up. Osa just sacked Gilbert, and Gregory got him again when he tried to extend the play.
CeeDee Lamb caught a short pass out to the left, Trevon Diggs snuck up behind him to knock the ball loose and recover it. Might’ve scored in an actual game
— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) August 17, 2021
Oh, lookee here.
Amari Cooper just makes a catch in team drills. Good to see him back on the field.
— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) August 17, 2021
Amari walking around kinda looks awkward but he looks just fine running that slant and getting open easy as hell.
— Jeff Cavanaugh (@JC1053) August 17, 2021
Rookie getting in on the action.
Kelvin Joseph just had an INT of DiNucci wiped out by a DPI flag.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 17, 2021
Bummer for him, but the way he extended to catch the pass was pretty impressive. Some of these young DBs have way better ball skills than I'm used to watching around here.
Say more things like this.
In his first day back in pads, Amari Cooper with a big gain off a slant. Showcasing his YAC-ability. Good to see 19 back on the field.
— Brianna Dix (@DixBrianna) August 17, 2021
Kellen Moore has stressed he will rotate Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb in the slot and outside. Evident today.
You have to like this.
Good cross chop from Cowboys DE Randy Gregory to get past WR Noah Brown, who was last blocker standing as Gregory collapsed pocket. Garrett Gilbert heaved a prayer, no good
— Jori Epstein (@JoriEpstein) August 17, 2021
I’ll throw one of my own in here.
Garrett rainbow to Gallup for a big gain.
— Tom Ryle, fully vaccinated (@TomRyleBTB) August 17, 2021
Here’s a better account.
It's fun when you get to feel smart about football.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 17, 2021
Jayron Kearse followed Michael Gallup into the slot just now, and you thought to yourself 'ehhh, that looks like trouble.' Sure enough, Gallup got 3-4 steps on him on a post corner for 30-40 yards.
See for yourself.
The G Connection!

This is interesting.
Parsons is at left end with Gregory at right end with Jaylon and Leighton at linebacker#DallasCowboys

Offense gets a win.
Nice two-minute drill by Garrett Gilbert. Moved the chains with throws to Blake Jarwin and Michael Gallup. Went deep to CeeDee Lamb. Anthony Brown was called for PI to set up first and goal. Gilbert to Lamb on a fade in the right corner for a 5-yard TD
— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) August 17, 2021
Only the mothership is allowed to tweet out videos. Fortunately, they put this one up.

The twos working.
nice job by Semi Fehoko to free himself from Nahshon Wright on a deep comeback to pick up a 1st down. gives the 2nd-team offense a shot at a game-winner from the 12-yard line
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 17, 2021
And Simi caps it off.
Simi Fehoko doing his best Lamb impression.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) August 17, 2021
Cooper Rush drew the entire DL offside on a 3rd-and-10 from the 12, then heaved a YOLO ball into traffic due to the free play. Fehoko went up over everybody and pulled it in for the game-winning TD.
A reminder you win some and lose some.
Joseph has looked good today but Fehoko just hit him with the toast.
— Patrik [No C] Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) August 17, 2021
Whew.
TD.
That was the end of Cowboys Night (what used to be the Blue and White Scrimmage). Cuts tomorrow, then the Texans game. We’ll keep you covered.
