The Cowboys had to be down to 53 players on their roster this past Tuesday. But as we all know, that only signals the beginning of more moves, ones that are geared toward the opening of the season. Given that 53-man roster from Tuesday, it was obvious there were some players who were going to be moved to IR, and others that were going to come off the Reserve/COVID list. It looks like that process is going to start happening today.
The Cowboys had five players on the COVID list: CeeDee Lamb, Damontae Kazee, Carlos Watkins, Noah Brown and Connor Williams. Three of those players are going to be activated soon.
The Cowboys will activate wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, safety Damontae Kazee and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins from the reserve/COVID list, according to a source. Good news as Cowboys intensify prep work for Tampa Bay opener.

That’s at least two starters coming back (Lamb, Kazee), and a third player (Watkins) that is expected to get heavy work in the defensive tackle rotation. Getting Connor Williams back sooner than later would also be reassuring for the Cowboys. There is still the matter of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn’s return.
With these moves expect the Cowboys to move some players to IR soon. Neville Gallimore, Sean McKeon, and Josh Ball are almost assuredly going to be moved to IR. Kelvin Joseph, Malik Turner and Francis Bernard are other candidates.
