Dak Watch Week 2: A win is a win as the Cowboys clip the Chargers

Breaking down the good and the bad from Sunday for the Cowboys QB1.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It is always more enjoyable to break down a victory.

That’s what we get to do this week in the second installment of Dak Watch.

The Dallas Cowboys avoided the dreaded 0-2 start with a “road” win in Los Angeles over the Chargers. We can put the road in quotation marks there because at times, it felt like this was a home game for the Cowboys, whose fans always travel well.

It was a bit of a mixed afternoon for quarterback Dak Prescott, who was held without a touchdown pass and did throw an interception. But sometimes, making sure you can just get the win is a huge part of playing quarterback, and Sunday’s outing might have been one of those occasions.

In this video we’ll dive into seven plays from Prescott’s afternoon. We’ll highlight timing and rhythm in the passing game, along with some anticipation throws. We’ll look at the importance of formations, making progression reads, and ball placement. We’ll also look at what happened on a critical sack late in the game, and the early interception.
