Just toying with an idea on how to pay quarterbacks fairly without wrecking the salary cap.

What if teams pay the starting QB position a standardized stipend throughout the season, then at year's end pay QBs on an agreed upon metric based on ranking? Of course, greater minds would need to work it out, but that's a basic thought to rid teams of these albatross QB contracts. It would also put an end to the "next man up" way of paying a marginal talent money that was not deserved.
