The Dallas Cowboys successfully defeated the Carolina Panthers last week and a big reason for that was the continued stellar play of second-year cornerback DaRon Bland.

Bland recorded interception number six on the season on Sunday and returned it for a touchdown, the fourth time this year that he has done so. With his fourth pick-six of the year, Bland tied the NFL record for most in a season and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

It is truly difficult to explain Bland’s success outside of him being extraordinarily talented and capitalizing on the opportunities that are presented. He has 11 interceptions through his first 27 career games, the last player to record at least that many in the same stretch to start their career was Bland’s teammate, Trevon Diggs.

As noted, Bland has already tied the league record for most pick-six interceptions in a single season. With seven games to go it is possible that he could break the record, but a pick-six is hardly an easy thing to do... unless you are DaRon Bland, of course.
