It looks like Christmas isn’t arriving early for the Dallas Cowboys.
Free agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard was in Dallas on Tuesday on a visit with the team but officially left without a deal in place.
Free agent LB Shaquille Leonard's visit with the Cowboys has concluded without a contract, a person familiar with situation said. That doesn't necessarily preclude a future signing, but he’s set to leave Dallas without a deal in place.— Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) November 28, 2023
His departure from Dallas doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be continued interest once he leaves or for a deal to get done, but as it stands, he won’t be a Cowboy.
He had a workout with the team this morning and had lunch with Owner Jerry Jones.
There has been rumored interest by other teams around the league, specifically with the Philadelphia Eagles. Leonard is set to take his next visit to Philadelphia. It looks like an arms race between divisional teams who have had problems with depth at linebacker.
The Cowboys play the Eagles next weekend, so if Leonard ends up with either team, it will also be for a push toward the postseason in mind. Christmas is still a few weeks away, and miracles happen all the time. Maybe for Dallas, there can be a few bells that ring in their favor.
