Tonight’s Thursday Night Football game features a clash between the visiting Los Angeles Chargers and the host Las Vegas Raiders.
This is an open thread for game chat.
Below some of the BTB staff made game picks using Tallysight. Check them out and the explanation for the picks.
Dave Halprin: Neither team is playing particularly good football right now. With the Chargers losing Justin Herbert, it’s hard to trust that offense. On the flip side, things are not much better for the Raiders. In a situation like this, take the home team. Raiders win 16-10.
Tom Ryle: The word that comes to mind about the matchup between two teams that always sound like they are from the wrong city is “uninspiring.” Yet both Monday night games turned out to have unexpectedly entertaining finishes, so you never know. Still, with the QB situations for both, it is hard to figure out where this will go. I’ll take a stab with a prediction that Kellen Moore has the best game of his career with the Chargers and they get a close win over the Raiders.
David Howman: This almost feels like watching a preseason game since no star quarterbacks will be present. Both the Chargers and Raiders are very bad teams, but the Raiders have homefield advantage on a short week and the benefit of a backup quarterback who isn’t making his first career start. Give me the Raiders 20-13.
Matt Holleran: This game certainly does not have the buzz it did when the schedule released. Two backups quarterbacks and two non-playoff contending teams make for another dull TNF matchup. The Raiders are at home and are a bit better of a team overall so I’ll take them. Give me Vegas, 24-17.
Brian Martin: This TNF matchup between the Chargers and Raiders is between two teams featuring backup quarterbacks and what is looking like what will be a vacancy at the head coaching position. Both organizations are already in evaluation mode for the offseason, making this game next to meaningless. I’m gonna go with the Raiders over the Chargers after choosing with a flip of the coin.
RJ Ochoa: It is really amazing how bad all of the Thursday night games seem to be, although last week’s sort of weirdly delivered. I want nothing to do with the Chargers that have Justin Herbert which means I want absolutely nothing to do with the version of the team that does not. Give me the Raiders as a result of having no other options. Go see some Christmas lights.
OCC: Easton Stick will be suiting up at QB for the Chargers, Aiden O’Connell is the latest guy for the Raiders. O’Connell had a pre-draft workout with the Cowboys prior to this year’s draft, which is the only reason I’m picking the Raiders in what could be an ugly matchup between two down-on-their-luck, 5-8 teams.
