At the time of this writing the Dallas Cowboys have yet to kick off against the Buffalo Bills, but they have already picked up a huge win. Thanks to action from the early window of games across the NFL, specifically the losses by the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, and with the Detroit Lions winning on Saturday, the Cowboys officially locked up a playoff spot.
You read that right: The Dallas Cowboys are headed to the playoffs!
Given that we are still only in mid-December it is not exactly shocking for the Cowboys to be postseason-bound with the way that this season has gone for them. Had things not broken their way on Sunday the Cowboys could have clinched a spot with a win in Buffalo. Hopefully they do win, but it is certainly nice to know that their ticket has already been punched.
The Cowboys are just the second NFL team to lock up a playoff spot as the San Francisco 49ers did so last week. It is the third year in a row that Dallas is playing in the tournament and officially the first time since 1994-1996 that they have made it three years in a row.
