After a disappointing blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Dallas Cowboys are down but not out. Thanks to some help from the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, the Cowboys are still in first place in the NFC East. The Cowboys still need some help mathematically if they hope to take the division over the Philadelphia Eagles, but the figures that count the most are W’s. If the Cowboys can win on Christmas Eve in Miami against the Dolphins, it will net them a win ahead of the Eagles’ Christmas clash with the New York Giants and give them some confidence ahead of a playoff push. Unfortunately, the Cowboys are less than ideally healthy after their first practice of the week.

Keeping with their routine of resting veterans to open the week, Dallas gave several players a light load Wednesday that were either limited or sat out altogether. Such players include Brandin Cooks, Stephon Gilmore, DeMarcus Lawrence and Jourdan Lewis. Rico Dowdle was limited by an ankle injury. Furthermore, Tyron Smith did not practice with a back injury, the severity of which is unknown. Zack Martin, who left last week’s game with a thigh injury, did not partake in team activities Wednesday. Also not practicing were Jonathan Hankins and Malik Hooker with ankle injuries. Meanwhile, Tony Pollard was a full participant despite having a thumb injury designation.

The Dolphins’ injury report looks as long as a Christmas list. All five of their starting offensive linemen did not practice. Joining them as DNPs were Xavien Howard, Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, and one big name.

All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill was sidelined at practice on Wednesday. Hill suffered an ankle injury against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 and sat out last week’s game versus the New York Jets. There is optimism from the Dolphins that Hill could play Sunday.
