Cowboys injury report: Zack Martin, Tyron Smith DNP again

Here is the Dallas Cowboys injury report for Thursday. Zack Martin, Tyron Smith still not practicing

Anxious to get back on track and return to the win column, the Dallas Cowboys have resumed their week of practice in preparation for the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Eve. Today, the team began practice in the rain at the Star in Frisco but quickly changed course to complete their practice indoors. Having rested some players on Wednesday, the injury report looks more transparent regarding the team’s health status after Thursday.

Zack Martin and Tyron Smith were not practicing for a second consecutive day. Martin not practicing makes sense, considering he left last week’s game with a thigh injury. Head coach Mike McCarthy provided more clarity on how Smith’s injury occurred and what it could signify going forward. Both injuries warrant close attention this late in the week. Stay tuned for more details.

Jonathan Hankins also did not practice today as he is still recovering from a sprained ankle. He likely won’t play this week and may miss some time after that, but the team has opted not to place the veteran defender on injured reserve. Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore returned to practice after being given the day off yesterday. Malik Hooker resumed practice in limited fashion on Thursday after sitting out yesterday and not playing in Week 15 at Buffalo.

The Dolphins received good news today. Tyreek Hill returned to practice Thursday after missing last week’s game versus the New York Jets with an ankle injury. Also returning to practice for Miami were Terron Armstead, Xavien Howard, and De’Von Achane.
