The Dallas Cowboys came into this game already playoff bound while the Miami Dolphins needed a win to get into the playoffs. Seems the Dolphins fight to get into the postseason was too much for Dallas to handle as Miami got the win in the dying seconds with a field goal. Here’s the reaction on social media throughout tonight’s game.
The first drive was going well and the Cowboys offense marched down to the one-yard line. But then they fumbled and Miami recovered.
And that is a perfect example of the difference between the #Cowboys at home versus the version of them that shows up on the road. Those types of mistakes.— Patrik [No C] Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) December 24, 2023
Coming up with no points after a drive like that, with FOUR conversions, one the one-yard line ... is absolutely brutal.
But the Cowboys defense held.
Ok, so sure the #Cowboys lose the ball on an unforced mistake. But they held Miami to a long field goal.— Mike Poland (@kenfigkowboy) December 24, 2023
Not an ideal start but I’ll take it
CeeDee Lamb made a catch on the next drive and showed off his play-making skills scoring the touchdown.
The Dolphins tried to find their groove in the second quarter. They went for it on fourth-down and Dallas holds.

Micah on DEMON TIME! Good stop defense— J Tuck (@jtuck151) December 24, 2023
After the refs called roughing the passer on Micah Parson, the Dolphins score just before the half.
He can’t get this call though?! pic.twitter.com/4yNupZIQGX— Chris Halling (@ChrisHalling_) December 24, 2023
Personal fouls killed this team last week and it's happening again. Micah is obviously frustrated but that's not the way to respond. I'm gonna predict that penalty to be the play of the game- other than the fumble, of course.— Nick Eatman (@nickeatman) December 24, 2023
Penalties in key moments helped stall drives. That was certainly the case in the third quarter.
A Dallas illegal shift penalty stalls out a promising drive set up by a 45-yard grab from Jalen Tolbert, but Brandon Aubrey nails through his 32nd consecutive field goal to get the Cowboys back within one possession.— Nick Harris (@NickHarrisDC) December 24, 2023
Dolphins 16, Cowboys 10
The game then became a battle of the kickers. In the fourth quarter, Brandon Aubrey hit another field goal to make it 19-13.
Most efficient offense in the league vs. the most explosive offense in the league, so naturally it's a kicker showcase.— David Helman (@davidhelman_) December 24, 2023
A huge sack came on third-down. It put Miami out of scoring range and forced a punt.
Dallas put four edge rushers on the field and the athleticism paid off as Armstrong, Lawrence, Fowler and Parsons all crash in on Tua for the unit's first sack of the day.— Nick Harris (@NickHarrisDC) December 24, 2023
Big third down sack to give Dallas the ball back.#DallasCowboys
Cowboys offense started to roll. KaVontae Turpin drew a pass interference in the endzone. Dak threw to Brandin Cooks for the score on to finish the drive. Cowboys take the lead 20-19.

LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!— Kyle Youmans (@Kyle_Youmans) December 25, 2023
Miami use the ground game to kill time and get into field goal range. The Cowboys then lose with the final kick.
The Cowboys have had two straight opportunities to prove that they can win tough games on the road against good/playoff teams and failed both challenges.— RJ Ochoa (@rjochoa) December 25, 2023
It is extremely likely that their next road game of significance will not come until the playoffs so the question will… https://t.co/jgTTPun5cx
Just way too many mistakes for the #Cowboys. All the complementary players let them down.— Marcus Mosher (@Marcus_Mosher) December 25, 2023
Might have to shorten the rotation in the playoffs. Lukepe, Hendershot, etc. aren't ready for big games.
Cowboys lose, 22-20, on last second FG. Cowboys now 10-5. Best they can do is match win total of the last two seasons. Now have to hope Philly continues to lose. Cowboys now 3-5 away from home.— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) December 25, 2023
