2023 Overview

The Detroit Lions are a good football team. For the first time in a very long time you can say that without being laughed at for it. They have locked up the NFC North division and are now setting their sights on playoff seeding with everything still out in front of them.

They will be a formidable test for a Dallas Cowboys team who have lost two in a row and are looking to avoid a troubling late-season three-game skid. The Lions do a lot of things well and play hard for their coach, and the Cowboys will need to be ready for a tough battle all night long.

Player to watch… WR, Amon-Ra St. Brown

Amon-Ra St. Brown has turned himself into one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL. QB Jared Goff completely trusts his weapon and that has resulted in the two of them clicking together all season long.

The Cowboys better have a plan for St. Brown as he is tough, physical, and is unafraid to bring the fight to defensive backs for 60 minutes. He can hit a big play in a flash and can lean on you all night.

The Lions lean on their running game quite a bit but St. Brown is clearly one of their biggest playmakers, and they will find a way to get him involved early and often.

Don’t forget about... RB, Jahmyr Gibbs

While many had questioned the usage of Jahmyr Gibbs early in the season, it looks like the team and the player have found their groove late in the season. Gibbs is getting his touches, making explosive plays, and really has brought a spark to this Lions offensive attack.

This is the exact type of player the Cowboys have struggled defending this season and without a full concerted effort on defense, things could get out of hand quickly with Gibbs taking over.

The Cowboys need this game for a lot of reasons, some of which are for seeding and playoff positioning, but probably more importantly they need to win to get back in that groove as they have stumbled as of late. Saturday night will not be an easy matchup for the ‘Boys but they need their best effort or there may be a full scale panic coming from Dallas as a result.
