The Dallas Cowboys have a challenging game this Saturday against the Detroit Lions. Detroit has won the NFC North for the first time since the division was formed in 2002. Detroit is still fighting for the top seed in the NFC and will be motivated more than ever to beat the Cowboys. Like Dallas, Detroit is managing injuries to their offensive line, and health will be vital in this week’s game. Here is the current news on the Cowboys injury front.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said LTs Tyron Smith (back) and Chuma Edoga (toe) both participated in today’s walkthrough. Team to see how they respond to a light practice load Friday before Saturday’s game vs. Lions. “We feel good about it.”— Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) December 28, 2023
We have good news regarding Tyron Smith’s status. Smith was able to work into team activities Thursday in a limited capacity, and the team will further assess how he handles another light practice tomorrow. The team is optimistic about his chances to play Saturday against Detroit.
Smith is listed as questionable on this week’s final injury report. Zack Martin was downgraded to DNP yesterday for rest but has been removed from the injury report. Hunter Leupke and Malik Hooker were listed as full participants Thursday and and have no injury designation heading into this week’s game. Meanwhile, Rico Dowdle did not practice yesterday and was ultimately ruled out. Surely the Cowboys will call up Malik Davis for Saturday. Jonathan Hankins was also ruled out.
