Cowboys injury report: Zack Martin, Tyron Smith among veterans getting rest

Your latest Cowboys injury news.

NFL: Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are back on the practice field after a pseudo-bye week after playing on two consecutive Thursdays. The Cowboys should feel good about where they stand ahead of this week’s game against their bitter rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. One game separates the teams jn the NFC East. For the Cowboys to have a realistic chance at winning the division, they must win at home this Sunday. The Cowboys have the longest home winning streak in the NFL at 14 games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have not defeated the Cowboys at home since 2017. Preparation and good health are paramount for the Cowboys to take down the Eagles this week. Here’s a look at this week’s first injury report.

In line with the Cowboys’ plan for most of the season, the team gave the day off to Tyron Smith. Dallas has been managing Smith’s practices to keep him in optimal condition and it has worked wonders.

Every other player on the Cowboys’ active roster participated and was on the practice field. Other injury news consists of mainly limiting several veteran players for rest. Such players include, Brandin Cooks, Stephon Gilmore, Zack Martin, and DeMarcus Lawrence. Plus, the team has a few transactions to report.

Peyton Hendershot was activated today. Matt Waletzko had his 21-day practice window opened by the club on Wednesday. In a corresponding move tight end Sean McKeon has been moved to injured reserve.
