The 2022 Philadelphia Eagles were the real deal. The NFC representative for the Super Bowl eventually came up short against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, while doing so, they solidified their legitimacy as a team to beat in the conference going forward.
Fast forward to 2023, and while the Eagles how found ways to win as they sit at 10-2, they seem to be a talented but beatable football team. Fresh off a beat down at the hands of the 49ers, the Eagles will look to come in and get that bad taste out of their mouth against the Cowboys in a big NFC East matchup on Sunday Night Football.
There is a lot on the line this week, with even more to be learned about both teams, and depending on how things go on Sunday night, it could change the landscape for the homestretch of the season for both teams.
Player to watch… RB, D’Andre Swift
The Eagles go as their running game goes. While Hurts is a formidable QB who is able to make plays with both his arms and his legs, it is clear that the Eagles are a better football team when they are able to lean on people in the running game.
Stopping Swift will be key for the Cowboys and it won’t be an easy task. Swift has been an excellent addition to Philly’s offense this year and he has been explosive when given the football. It truly is a pick your poison approach when you look at the Eagles offense, but many would concur that you would rather put the game in Hurts’ hand rather than to let this running game get going.
Don’t forget about... LB, Haason Reddick
Reddick has been a star since joining the Eagles via a trade with the Arizona Cardinals and he will be a problem that Terence Steele and company will need to deal with all night long.
The last time these two teams met, Steele gave up four sacks with one of those coming from Reddick. The Eagles surely smell blood in the water with Steele on the right side and the ‘Boys will need a plan for Reddick and the crew this week.
